eLINIA Corporate Social Responsibility

As a business eLINIA takes its social responsibilities seriously and is particularly active in encouraging and preparing young people for the world of work.

Some of the activities in which we are currently engaged are:

Cardiff Metropolitan University
eLINIA sponsors the University and during the 2012 year’s summer graduations a prize will be awarded by eLINIA for the first time. We also offer student work placements within the company, and are planning to provide guest lecturers at the University’s School of Management.

Careers Wales
We are one of Careers Wales’ ‘Ambassadors’ and work with them to help young people prepare for the start of their working lives. This takes the form of, for example, conducting mock interviews and participating in ‘Dragon’s Den’ type activities. eLINIA will also be part of the judging panel for the Media Master class Business Challenge in 2012.

Work Experience Placements
eLINIA has recently hosted a number of summer work experience placements. We try to make the experience as rewarding as possible for the students and ensure that the time spent with us is as interesting and varied as possible. This includes visits to our data centres and spending periods with different teams throughout the business.

Graduate Programme
eLINIA has developed a Graduate Programme which comprises a six month work schedule across all our corporate disciplines. This work is combined with relevant training, such as customer service, coaching and motivation and negotiation skills, as well as more targeted training, such as Prince 2 for those wishing to become Project Managers. In this way, we are able to ensure a ‘best fit’ role for our graduates at the end of the six months, and hopefully build loyalty to the company.

Sustainable Environment
Seventy per cent of eLINIA’s data centres around the UK are currently powered by renewable biomass energy sources. This ethos is also visible at eLINIA’s Cardiff headquarters and its Network Operations Centre, which rely entirely on energy from renewable sources.
