As specialists in secure infrastructure outsourcing and managed hosting, we typically deal with IT departments who are very well aware of the challenges and complexities around data security. Whilst the latest security breach will undoubtedly go some way towards heightening organisations awareness of security, in reality it does little but confirm what we have known for some time: that companies are still adopting a compartmentalised approach to information security. Despite much education, many firms today are still treating security as an issue for the IT department, when clearly this needs to become a company-wide concern if the right questions are to be asked of suppliers during the auditing process.
