Environmental Policy

We take environmental issues seriously, as do many businesses and individuals. There is much written about how the ICT industry is adapting to the challenge of reducing its carbon footprint, and how the demand for ICT services and technologies will not diminish in the coming years.

At eLINIA we realise this is something we can make a positive choice about, and look to employ effective strategies that really make a difference.

Some of the steps we are taking are:

  • Powering our flagship data centre using a Biomass energy source. There is a natural carbon cycle between plant life and the world's atmosphere. When plants grow they take up carbon dioxide from the atmosphere through photosynthesis. When plants decay naturally, this carbon dioxide is re-released to the atmosphere. When plant material, or biomass, is used for fuel, carbon dioxide is released to the atmosphere by combustion. This replaces the natural release of carbon dioxide by decay. Hence, wood and Fibre Fuel are ā€˜carbon neutral' - they do not contribute to increased levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

  • Powering our headquarters environment with Carbon-free renewable energy.

  • Having strict procedures in place covering recycling of office and IT waste.

  • Green Man AwardPromoting the use, in our solutions and services, of IT activities that reduce carbon footprint in such as using virtualisation. Virtualisation of some elements of our core infrastructure reduces our need for more physical, poorly utilised, hardware. We offer our customers virtualisation and consolidation services to help customers benefit from this method of better improving efficiency of operation (especially replacing older equipment, more power hungry, equipment).

  • We also have a monthly award for the best ā€œGreen Initiativeā€.
