eLINIA extends Oracle's route to market in Wales

eLINIA, the managed services specialist, has announced that it will operate as an Oracle reseller in Wales and the West Country. As a member of the Oracle Partner Network eLINIA resells and provides consultancy for the full spectrum of the Oracle Technology stack.

Rapid economic development in Wales since the turn of the millennium, notably in the service sector and high-tech industry, has cemented the strategic importance of the region for IT services providers.

Rob Lamb, account manager with Oracle distributor Avnet said: "eLINIA made an extremely compelling business case for inclusion in the Oracle partner programme, and will be a valuable asset in terms of helping Oracle to reach organisations across Wales and the west of England."

eLINIA will focus on offering Oracle's database products, specifically targeting businesses with a requirement for 500+ seats. The company recently won a significant contract to provide managed Oracle services for the International Baccalaureate education foundation.

Oracle managed services will be offered to business alongside eLINIA's existing portfolio of managed business and infrastructure application. The company anticipates significant demand for Oracle managed services in the next eighteen months as the financial downturn causes businesses of all sizes to look at cost efficiency measures.

James Carnie, technical architect at eLINIA, said: "One of the few positives to come out of the financial downturn is that businesses are being forced to look at where they have been using a sledgehammer to crack a walnut.

Outsourcing may not be the panacea some would have us believe, but in certain cases the numbers don't stack up any other way. Business critical applications like Oracle require monitoring around the clock. Economies of scale mean that we can deliver the same services cheaper than can be done in-house."

A recent report by Forrester Research identified outsourcing as a key trend for 2009 with 43% of firms already increasing their use of infrastructure outsourcing as a result of the downturn.
